What “last checked” means

Every page carries a date. It means that on that date we re-read the page, confirmed the products on it are still being sold, and corrected anything that had changed. It does not mean the page was rewritten. If a recommendation changes materially, we note the change on the page rather than quietly swapping it.

Update cadence

• Product roundups are reviewed at least twice a year, and sooner when a top pick goes out of stock.
• Guides are reviewed annually, or whenever the thing they describe changes — a settings path in iOS, for example.
• Any page a reader tells us is wrong is reviewed immediately.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, please tell us at contact@steadyandsimple.com. We correct errors on the page itself and update the date. Where a correction changes what we recommended, we say what changed and why, rather than editing it away.

We would rather be corrected than be consistent. If you have used one of these products and our description does not match your experience, that is genuinely useful to us.

Independence

• No manufacturer pays for placement, coverage, or a better position in a list.
• Affiliate commission does not affect which products we pick or the order they appear in.
• We are not sent free products, and we do not accept them in exchange for coverage.
• We regularly recommend products we earn nothing from, and say so on the page. That is the test of whether a disclosure policy means anything.

Out-of-stock policy

A top pick that becomes unavailable is replaced, not left live with a dead link. If a whole category becomes hard to buy, we say so on the page rather than recommending something worse to fill the gap.

What we will never publish

• Invented reviews, testimonials, ratings or review counts. There are none anywhere on this site.
• Claims of hands-on testing we have not done.
• Credentials, qualifications or affiliations we do not hold.
• Medical advice. We describe what products do; your doctor advises on your health.
• Prices typed into the text, which go stale and mislead.

Pages are written and checked by Selena H. Steady & Simple is published by Selena Hann, who is responsible for everything on it.
